Samsung's probe into its Galaxy Note 7  has found that the overheating and burning of the phones was caused by faults with their batteries. The firm had axed its iphone competitor  in October last year after an earlier botched recall and re-release. The recall is thought to have cost $5.3bn (£4.3bn) and was hugely damaging for the South Korean firm's reputation. On Monday, Samsung said that neither software nor hardware were at fault, only the batteries. Internal and independent investigations "concluded that batteries were found to be the cause of the Note 7 incidents", the South Korean technology giant  said in a statement . So what went wrong? The company said that errors both in design and manufacturing affected batteries by two different manufacturers. Potato chips and French fries were found to contain higher levels of acrylamide compared with other foods ( 2 ). The World Health Organization and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations stated that the levels of acrylamide in foods pose a “major concern” and that more research is needed to determine the risk of dietary acrylamide exposure ( 2 ).

The City of Cleveland held a press conference at 5:30 p.m. Friday to announce that internal administrative disciplinary charges will be filed regarding three police officers involved in the death of Tamir Rice. Mayor Frank Jackson, safety director Michael McGrath, police chief Calvin Williams, and deputy police chief Wayne Drummond talked about the status of the review and investigation of Officers Timothy Loehmann, Frank Garmback, and William Cunningham II at Cleveland City Hall.  Rice, 12, was shot and killed by police officers outside the Cudell Recreation Center on Nov. 22, 2014. Loehmann and Garmback are the two police officers who responded to the call of someone holding a gun and waving it around outside the Cudell Recreation Center.
